The Boston Celtics took a commanding lead in the 2024 NBA Finals with a 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 on June 6. Led by stellar performances from Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, the Celtics asserted their dominance from the outset and never looked back.

Brown led the way for Boston with 28 points, shooting 10-of-21 from the field and hitting three 3-pointers. Tatum added 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Marcus Smart contributed 15 points and 8 rebounds. The Celtics shot 46.7% from the field and had a 42-29 advantage in rebounds.

The Mavericks, who were making their first appearance in the NBA Finals since 2011, struggled to keep pace with Boston's intensity and execution. Luka Doncic, the Mavericks' leading scorer, was held to just 20 points on 7-of-21 shooting. Dorian Finney-Smith added 16 points, while Josh Green had 13.

With the victory, the Celtics took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 is scheduled for June 8 in Boston before the series shifts to Dallas for Games 3 and 4.
