The Coronation of Their Majesties

King Charles III and Queen Camilla have been crowned at Westminster Abbey in a historic and deeply religious ceremony marking the beginning a new royal era.

The Ceremony

King Charles was crowned on 6th May 2023 and is the 40th monarch to be crowned in the Abbey. He is also the oldest British monarch to be crowned.

The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla was held at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May 2023. The ceremony was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury and was attended by members of the royal family heads of state and government from around the world.

The ceremony included the anointing of King Charles with holy oil the presentation of the orb scepter and coronation ring and the placing of the St. Edward's Crown on his head, followed by the homage of the peers of the realm.

Queen Camilla was also crowned and anointed during the ceremony.

The Celebrations

The Coronation was followed by a carriage procession through the streets of London and a balcony appearance by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace.

Celebrations continued throughout the weekend with street parties, concerts and fireworks displays.
